This privacy notice explains how isaacbell.io (“the site,” “we,” “us”) collects and processes your personal data when you visit this website. This site is operated by Isaac Bell.

2. What We Collect
When you visit this site, we use Matomo Analytics to collect:
- Page views and URLs visited
- Visit duration
- Referring sites and search terms
- Browser type, operating system, and device type
- Country-level location (derived from anonymized IP address)
We collect IP addresses solely for the purpose of immediate anonymization. The full IP address is processed and then discarded — the last two octets are stripped (e.g., 192.168.x.x). No identifiable IP address is stored.
Matomo sets the following first-party cookies on our domain:

These are first-party cookies set on our domain only. No cross-site tracking, no third-party cookies, no data shared with ad networks.
3. Purpose and Legal Basis
We process website analytics data based on legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Our legitimate interest is understanding how visitors use this site — which posts are read, where traffic comes from — to improve content and site structure. All data is aggregated and anonymized before analysis.
We do not use analytics data for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making. Matomo Analytics itself does not perform automated decision-making.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
Analytics data stays on our server. Matomo is self-hosted — no third party receives or processes your analytics data. No data is shared with advertising networks, analytics vendors, or any other external service for analytics purposes.
The contact form (if used) sends data to our email provider. No other third parties receive personal data from this site.
5. Data Retention
Matomo analytics data is retained for 13 months before automatic deletion. This aligns with French CNIL guidelines for analytics data retention. You can configure this period in Matomo using the Data Retention feature.
Contact form submissions are retained for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry, then deleted.
6. Data Transfers
All analytics data is stored on our server in the United States. No personal data collected through Matomo is transferred outside the server environment.
7. Your Rights
Under GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Right of access — request a copy of your personal data
- Right to rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Right to erasure — request deletion of your data
- Right to restrict processing — temporarily halt data use
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Right to object — object to processing (including analytics tracking)
- Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent

8. Opt Out
You can opt out of Matomo tracking below. Checking the box sets an opt-out cookie on your device. If you clear cookies or switch browsers, you will need to opt out again.
You may choose to prevent this website from aggregating and analyzing the actions you take here. Doing so will protect your privacy, but will also prevent the owner from learning from your actions and creating a better experience for you and other users.
